I am Johannes Jurgens Badenhorst, the City Secretary (Corporate Services Manager) of SiyaThemba Municipality.

I was born in Uitenhage, but grew up in the Northern Cape. I graduated from school in Prieska at Prieska High School.

After school I obtained my B.Comm degree at the University of the Free State.

In 1983 I start to work at Volkskas Bank in Prieska, from where I was transferred to Bloemfontein. In the bank I undertook lots of courses in computers, credit control, management and personnel management courses.

I left the service of the bank in 1991, following this I started to work for the Prieska Municipality as Accountant. In 1994, I was promoted as City Secretary the position I hold to this day.

I serve on the church council of the NG Kerk as well as on the Governing Body of Prieska High School.

In the National and Local Elections of 1994, 1995 1999 and 2000. I was deputy Municipal Electoral Officer for Prieska.

I am married with Louisa Le Roux and we have 3 children: 2 boys and 1 girl.

In my free time I also have a farm, farming with Dorper Sheep
